The house in general would be large and take up a 2000 square foot plot of land. There would be a nice entry way and a large foyer in order to entertain guests. To the left there would be passage that takes people to a room that is completely made of rock climbing walls. The floor would be made of squishy cubes. The cubes would stack three feet from the foundation and the walls would reach 25 feet high. The cubes obviously would allow one to climb the walls with no ropes or climbing gear. In fact the design would be to climb only in one's shorts. The bonus would be that at the top of the wall there would be a way to get out onto the roof where there would be a 40 square foot pool. On hot summer days when getting done with the climb, one can just go for a swim. There will be a water slide that can be activated when you are ready to go back down which is an incentive in itself to make it to the roof. I work in the building game - I operate a magic screed - and it puts me in touch with many builders. I could assemble the team to do this dream project.

When I was a child I was fearless. I remember riding the tallest roller coaster 20 times in a row. I remember how free I felt, and how much fun I had. Back then, height safety was a non-issue. So how is it now when I look at that same roller coaster it makes me nauseas just thinking about being that far off of the ground? Even a very tall flight of stairs makes my heart race. I think about the potential possibility of tripping and falling, or someone bumping into me. The strangest thing is I have the ability to withstand heights in certain situations. I can ride the tall water slide because I know that even though I'm falling I have a safe place to land. It's the flight of stairs I have to take to get to the top of that water slide that makes it almost unbearable. I envy children and their ability to not worry about every bad thing that could possibly happen. Now if I did those things, I'd be thinking of using Don't get me wrong I don't feel that it is a good thing to feel as if bad things could never happen to you but the ability to not worry and get to have that feeling of freedom was amazing. So this summer I made a deal with my son, he says since I teach him all the time how to be a grown up then he is going to teach me how to be a kid again. So I will give it my best shot, between lots of therapy sessions and holding the hand of my little boy I will get on that roller coaster and ride it until I remember the "high" I got when I was a kid. |

I would like to add a deck to my house. I would need to install patio doors in the kitchen where there is presently a window. The deck would wrap around from the side of the house to the front door and extend to the opposite corner of the house. I would love to have an outdoor space to barbeque on and to relax with friends and family. I would also like to remove the paneling on the wall throughout the downstairs and install gyprock and paint every room a new color. I would also put an island in the kitchen with some bar stools and replace the current cupboards. Also, I would like to extend the counter in the kitchen so I have more counter space. I would install new windows throughout the house and replace the roof. There is also moulding in the house that the last owners painted. I would like to strip the paint and restore the moulding to its original condition. My house also has the original hardwood floors underneath laminate flooring. I would like to restore the original floors to their original condition, and get some advice from a local roof trusses manufacturers about our roof renovation plans too.

Having just layed down new GRP roofing on our roof, I now have to turn my attention to new jobs around the home. I have a large bay window in my family room that I would love to turn into a sliding glass door. Currently to get to my back patio, we need to pass through our laundry room back door to get out, which makes getting in and out a hassle, especially since it is where one of our dogs resides. Having a sliding door in the family room would allow us to get a fresh breeze throughout the room and allow us easy access in and out of the room, which we had never had before. This would be ideal for grilling season, as it is necessary to get in and out of the house easily and quickly to bring in and out different dishes. This will make having guests over a lot easier too. If I had the Do it yourself skills I would do this myself, but I do not have the time nor the skills. This is definitely a job I would like to have done and hope to have it done within the next six months, we have already consulted with a a contractor who has planned the construction necessary to put in the sliding glass door.

If I had enough money, I would like to improve the kitchen. It is such an important area for the functioning of the household, and the heavy use occurring over the past decade since we moved here has taken its toll, so that there are many parts of the room basically falling apart or at the end of their life-cycle. The drawers are loose, the sink is stained, the cold tap won’t work, the floor has holes in it, and the units all look tired. It would be great to rip the whole lot out and get a bank of shiny new units, with built-in appliances, drawers that swish instead of scrape - and a tap that works! I like bright, wake-me-up colours in the kitchen, so my choice of shade for the units and walls would be sunshine yellow or orange. I'd add light touches like velcro fasteners for the curtains. The tiling would be classy, and worth an extra investment since it lasts for years. I would choose a subtle, slightly glittery effect, no country-cottage effect for me. |
